David Philp and Simon Rawlinson will host two-day technology-led event in Newcastle starting February 28, 2018

BIM veterans David Philp and Simon Rawlinson will once again chair the two-day BIM Show Live 2018 event taking place at Newcastle’s Boiler Shop on Wednesday 28 February and Thursday 1 March 2018. There will also be a new BIM Awards taking place on the evening of Tuesday 27 February.

David Philp, Global BIM/IM Consultancy Director at AECOM & Chair of the Scottish BIM Delivery Group will chair day one after presenting his thoughts on the state of the industry. Affectionately titled ‘@ThePhilpster’, David is a well-known figure, ambassador, Professor and influencer and part of the core team at Digital Built Britain (DBB).

“BIM Show Live provides the perfect platform for the adventurous disruptors amongst us, and I’m sure it’ll deliver informative and interesting discussions yet again,” he said

The chair for day two is Simon Rawlinson, Head of Strategic Research and Insight at Arcadis and member of the Construction Leadership Council, where the industry is heading in pursuit of a construction sector deal.

Space Group CEO Rob Charlton and founder of BIM Show Live added, “Our industry is progressing at an accelerated rate, and at BIM Show Live we believe we must bring our visitors the very best our industry has to offer for technology and digital construction, plus what has changed year-on-year and what this means for future projects.

“What makes this year extra special is our BIM Awards. We know there is amazing work being carried out in the digital built environment both in the UK and globally, and we want to reward that talent, innovation, determination and tenacity.”

The two-day technology-led event, which explores the digital construction trends of tomorrow, will feature four content streams: Next Generation, Data, Strategy and Stories.

Another new element for 2018 will be the ‘Inspiration Day’, which will take place on the morning of Tuesday 27 February at the Boiler Shop and aims to demonstrate, with the help of colleges and universities in the North East, the opportunities available in the built environment sector to school pupils.

“It’s time we showed that construction is not just about hard hats, but has a far more digital element including the use of AR and VR – this event will inspire the younger generation in the area to view our industry in a whole new light,” said a conference spokesperson.
