Pro2 Lite offers same imaging quality as Pro2 but shorter battery and different pricing structure for creating content

Matterport has launched a new lower cost version of its 3D camera that combines scanned 3D models and 2D photographs to create interactive ‘True3D’ walkthroughs of buildings. The Pro2 Lite costs $2,495, offers ‘push-button simplicity’, weighs less than the flagship Pro2 but is said to offer the same high-quality imaging.

Matterport’s technology can be used to create fully immersive 3D experiences of building interiors, as well as a 3D “dollhouse” view that helps convey scale and illustrate spatial relationships within a property.

The key differences between the Pro2 Lite and the Pro2 are a shorter battery life and a different pricing structure for creating content. With four hours of battery life, Matterport says a Pro2 Lite user can scan up to 8,000 square feet of space before charging the battery.

In the construction sector, Matterport’s 3D cameras can be used to capture 2D photography and 3D data of sites then automatically stitch them into a complete, immersive 3D model. The as-built model can then be annotated and shared or the point cloud exported to Autodesk ReCap or Revit. The 3D cameras can also be used property marketing, allowing prospective buyers to move through a house or apartment in an immersive experience.

The Pro2 Lite will be shipping in March and is available for pre-order here.
