Common Data Environment chosen to control the flow of information on design and build of key section of HS2

Align, the bidding joint venture (JV) of Bouygues Construction, Sir Robert McAlpine, and VolkerFitzpatrick, has chosen GroupBCs Common Data Environment (CDE) for Phase One of HS2, the high-speed rail network between London and Birmingham. The CDE will be used to control the flow of information from Align JV’s design partners, Jacobs and Ingerop.

According to GroupBC, Align selected its CDE technology because it offered flexibility to adjust as the project developed, as well as ensuring control of information through BS1192/PAS1192 standards, such as document naming conventions and workflows. Having the capability to share information while retaining metadata from the client’s CDE and the Align CDE was also a deciding factor, says GroupBC, so speeding up the flow of information.

Align has won the HS2- C1 package, consisting of 21.6km of high speed rail that will run between the Colne Valley, just outside London, and the Chilterns; the 3.37km Colne Valley Viaduct; the 15.8km-long Chiltern twin-tunnels; and several shafts.
