Landscape Terrain Modeller (LTM) plug-in allows landscape architects to model in same environment as architects

BIM specialists from Årstiderne Arkitekter, one of Denmark’s largest architect firms, have developed a special Revit add-on for landscape architects. The LTM (Landscape Terrain Modeller) plug-in automates a number of the processes that landscape architects currently perform manually and means that landscape architects can now work in the same program as their architect colleagues.

“After asking our landscape architects about their working methods and requirements, it became clear that they lacked a tool in the market which enabled them to model landscapes in 3D,” explains Anders With Kaas, BIM specialist at Årstiderne Arkitekter. “We therefore started developing LTM in close cooperation with our landscape architect colleagues, which means that LTM has been continually developed and adapted to their needs.”

In addition to being used in house LTM has made the software available in the Autodesk App Store and is already being implemented by other firms. One of them is Hanna Husum, a landscape architect with Rubow Arkitekter in Copenhagen, who works on a daily basis with the new tool.

“LTM is a very good step forward for landscape architects, when it comes to modelling in 3D. The software provides various options that weren’t previously available. The biggest advantage is in our cooperation with the structural engineers, as we can work dynamically in the same model. LTM allows us to determine levels and manage gradients, and we hope that the software will be further developed to handle more complex landscape types easily and efficiently,” says Hanna Husum.
