Zhongnan Center, part of the Zhongnan Group, one of China’s largest property developers, is to use VR software from Norwegian startup Dimension10 (D10) to simplify communication and collaboration on its AEC projects. This includes a 500-metre tall skyscraper in Suzhou Industrial Park in China which, when completed, will contain a hotel as well as residential and office space.

Zhongnan Center discovered D10 whilst looking for a VR work tool for BIM, construction and marketing processes.

The company has a dedicated VR room in its office for conducting design reviews by gathering multiple stakeholders from different disciplines into the virtual 3D models. The aim is achieve increased levels of understanding across different disciplines whilst simplifying cross-disciplinary communication.

The VR room will also serve as a showroom for marketing purposes where Zhongnan Center can gather multiple guests in VR simultaneously for immersive experiences.

Dimension10 recently introduced a new cloud-sharing feature to make it easier for AEC teams to collaborate in VR.
