Subscription-based service includes generative AI image creation and text to 3D capabilities

Trimble has introduced SketchUp AI, a suite of AI tools designed to help simplify modelling, visualisation and learning in SketchUp.

Features include AI rendering, 3D geometry creation, and a Help chat where users can ask specific questions about their workflow, modelling needs, or the SketchUp ecosystem.

SketchUp AI, initially available as a monthly subscription, includes AI Render and AI Assistant.

AI Render, formerly SketchUp Diffusion, is Trimble SketchUp’s generative AI image creation tool designed to accelerate visualisation. Previously in the SketchUp Labs beta testing program, AI Render includes a redesigned interface and enhanced controls, such as Reference Images, Inpainting, and Negative Prompts.

With AI Render, designers can combine their SketchUp model with a text prompt and/or predefined styles to create images ‘in seconds’, from early concept iterations and inspiration to ‘realistic client deliverables’. Users can also refine generated images, such as altering colours and materials, or adding entourage.

Meanwhile, AI Assistant is an AI-powered SketchUp chatbot and 3D modelling partner. With Generate Object, an AI Assistant capability, users can turn an image or text prompt into 3D objects in seconds, directly within SketchUp.

AI content is independently produced by the AEC Magazine editorial team. HP and NVIDIA supports the creation of this content, but all opinions and coverage remain editorially independent.

Users simply upload an image or describe what they want to create, and AI Assistant generates the 3D object. It can be used as an alternative to 3D Warehouse, or to bypass the need to model from scratch.

AI Assistant also acts an AI-powered help tool, providing in-app support through natural language prompts, helping users find advice on best practices, troubleshoot issues, or discover new ways to use the software.

SketchUp AI operates on a credit-based system. Every Trimble SketchUp subscription includes a starter allocation of credits, with additional credits available to purchase as needed.

An AI Render costs 5 credits, Generate Object costs 30 credits and AI Help costs 0 credits.

A SketchUp Go subscription gets 100 credits per month; SketchUp Pro, 150 credits per month; and SketchUp Studio, 200 credits per month
