Frame completes virtual environment certification to run Revit and AutoCAD in the public cloud

Autodesk has certified Revit and AutoCAD to run on Frame, the cloud service that lets users run any CAD software in a browser.

Autodesk will support its customers that use Frame in much the same way it does for those that run its software on a certified workstation from the likes of HP and Dell.

This is an important endorsement for Frame’s pay as you go hosted workstation service. With Frame, customers can access a 3D CAD-capable virtual workstation from anywhere on any device, providing there is a high-bandwidth, low latency network connection in place and you are not too far from the datacenter.

It should make it possible to run Revit on a Mac or Chromebook and have the same experience as you would if running it on a high-end Windows workstation.

The standard Frame virtual workstation includes 4 vCPU Intel Xeon cores, 16GB RAM, and an Nvidia GRID GPU with 1536 CUDA cores. Prices start at $19.99 per month and includes 500 credits per user.

Frame is currently offering a free trial of Revit on its cloud platform.

To roll out Revit or AutoCAD on Frame Autodesk requires that customers have a network license running in a virtual private cloud. Frame says that network licenses will allow multiple users within a company to share licenses under the Autodesk SLA (software license agreement).
