Motif introduces ‘single click’ AI rendering

Architecturally tuned AI renderer balances simplicity with easy customisation

Motif has added a new AI rendering technology to its AEC collaboration platform, which is designed for early-stage design exploration or more developed design presentations.

Motif explains that unlike generic AI rendering tools, its technology is specifically optimised for architectural visualisation, and understand the nuances of building design, materials, and spatial relationships.

The new tool aims to simplify the rendering process by offering single-click generation of architectural images. The idea is to allow architects to generate multiple visualisation options much quicker than is possible with traditional rendering workflows.

The renderer works directly with 3D models streamed from Revit or Rhino. Alternatively, it can take input directly from a sketch or image of a physical model, allowing architects to quickly transform simple ideas into rendered images in seconds.

Motif’s AI rendering technology focuses on maintaining original geometric designs while interpreting material properties and environmental contexts.

From any given view, renders can be created with a single click or multiple rendering styles applied, such as ‘photorealistic’, ‘photorealistic black and white’, ‘watercolour’, and posterised. For each style, users are presented with multiple variations on a theme, all displayed alongside side each other in Motif’s ‘infinite canvas’.

Renders can be refined further through simple modifiers for environments (e.g. Rural, forest, mountain desert), weather (clear, cloudy, foggy, snowy) and time (sunrise, daytime, sunset, night time). For more control, users can define open ended text prompts to add specific colours, materials, or to augment renders with people, furniture, and foliage.
