Clinics and workshops will focus on the technical detail of delivering BIM Level 2
Visitors to Digital Construction Week (at London’s ExCeL from 18th-19th October) are invited to take part in a series of free to attend clinics exploring the practicalities of BIM execution.
Run in partnership with the UK BIM Alliance and sponsored by Allplan UK, the BIM Classroom is a new feature offering clinics and workshops focusing on the technical detail of delivering BIM Level 2.
cliniSessions will be carried out by a range of BIM experts from across the Regions and will give visitors the chance to ask more detailed questions and really get into the specifics of BIM delivery.
Clinic highlights include a session with BIM managers from Civils Skanska, Crossrail, HS2 and NR Infrastructure Projects as they look at BIM4Rail’s focus on the challenges of BIM Level 2 implementation in rail and ‘making BIM real’. The session will open up challenges to the audience and seek their help in getting involved and working across the industry, including across BIM sectors for greater alignment.
In other sessions, Paul Surin, head of built environment at Wienerberger and vice chairman of BIM4M2, will be looking at what BIM means for manufacturers and manufacturing, covering the future of construction product manufacturing but also looking into what must be done to help with the government BIM Level 2 mandate and to embrace the Digital Built Britain strategy.
FM & BIM will be the subject of Christine Gausden (BIM4FM Chair) and Peter Brogan (BIFM)’s clinic, which will present research that has found disparities in the level of sophistication, maturity and application of BIM in FM. They will focus on the importance of the FM industry engaging with other key stakeholders in BIM projects and discuss how FM professionals see BIM impacting on the FM industry.
Other sessions will highlight the changes in dynamics and behaviours required across the Construction supply chain to really leverage the benefits of BIM. Graham Clarkson, managing director, Clarkson Alliance will present a session on BIM 4 Housing – setting out the findings from an Innovate UK funded research project applying BIM level 2 on an Affordable Housing Scheme in collaboration with Worthing Homes and Clearbox which aimed to achieve a 20% reduction in construction costs.
Visitors will be able to sign up for the sessions in the BIM Classroom at DCW each day, on a first come, first served basis.
