UK cloud platform combines document management, process management and estimating with embedded AI
RIB Software has launched RIB Unify, a cloud-native platform aimed at the UK construction market. The platform consolidates project workflows, document management, process management and estimating into a single browser-based environment, with AI capabilities built into the underlying architecture rather than added as a bolt-on.
Unify is initially targeted at civil engineering and infrastructure, with additional construction segments to follow through further modules. The platform has been designed as a multi-tenant SaaS system intended to replace the combination of disconnected desktop applications, spreadsheets and paper-based processes that still characterise much of the industry’s project delivery.
At its core are two collaboration modules, Document Management and Process Management. which handle information flow between site and office. Document Management is positioned primarily at contract managers, while Process Management provides real-time visibility for site management. Both are fully accessible on mobile devices, enabling field teams to capture and share project data from any location. RIB Software also positions the platform as a more controlled alternative to informal communication channels such as WhatsApp, which may appeal to CIOs and security officers seeking tighter governance over project communications.

“One of the industry’s biggest challenges is ensuring that every stakeholder has access to the right project detail at the right time,” said Rolf Helmes, chief product officer at RIB Software. “Construction businesses need immediate access to reliable project intelligence and key documents to make informed commercial decisions and maintain best practice across delivery.”
The estimating module includes reusable frameworks, direct take-off-to-estimate connectivity, integrated subcontractor and supplier workflows, and parallel multi-user estimating that allows teams to work simultaneously on complex bids. Quantities are linked directly to estimate items so that changes propagate immediately, maintaining alignment between design intent and cost data. The platform also exposes resource utilisation, wastage and commercial drivers at a granular level, intended to improve estimate defensibility.
Being both cloud-native and AI-native from the outset is, according to Helmes, a deliberate architectural decision. “Construction organisations are investing in technology that not only solves today’s challenges but also gives them confidence they are prepared for the future,” he said. “Unify provides a foundation customers can continue to grow into as new workflows, modules and AI-driven opportunities emerge.”
