New cloud-sharing feature automatically transfers files to participants prior to VR meeting
Dimension10 has added a new cloud-sharing feature to its D10 collaborative VR solution. According to the Norwegian developer, it will greatly reduce the work required prior to having virtual meetings by automatically transferring files to project participants. Previously, the host had to ensure sure all guests were sent the 3D models and any other files in advance.
Dimension10 works with IFC files and there are also plug-ins for Revit and Navisworks, plus FBX, OBJ, STEP and others. Metadata can be brought across, so users can access detailed information about the model from within VR. Comments can be added to model viewpoints using speech to text.
BCF files can also be loaded into the software and any changes that are made will be saved in a copy BCF file.
For issue handling, the system currently supports the Bimsync cloud system. Any changes made to Bimsync issues will be synced back to Bimsync.
Dimension10 supports any headset that works with SteamVR, including the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and Windows Mixed Reality headsets. It also works with the Oculus Quest (2) when using the link cable.
