Is a 4U Server right for you?
If you’re reading this and considering moving to a rack-mount server, you might also be wondering which size is right for your use case. There are four conventional sizes to choose from – 1U, 2U, 3U, and 4U. Each Rack Unit (U) refers to the height of the rack. The bigger the U, the taller the device.
4U Servers come in at 7 inches tall, offering the most space for expansion, storage, and airflow. 4U racks are often used where a business needs multiple full-height PCIe cards, making them the best option for multiple GPUs for super-fast rendering times. The larger space also allows for superior cooling compared to smaller units, meaning components perform better when under intense workloads.
