Strategic partnership follows six-month trial deployment across 12 countries, with 86% of 150 participating engineers reporting a change in how they approach their work
Arcadis has made a strategic investment in Nomic, an AI platform built specifically for architecture, engineering and construction workflows, and entered into a long-term commercial partnership with the company. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The investment follows a six-month trial involving around 150 Arcadis engineers across multiple disciplines, sectors and countries. The trial tested Nomic’s AI agents on core delivery tasks including drawing review against firm standards, code compliance checks, submittal review, RFI research and BIM coordination.
Arcadis reports that 86% of participating engineers said the platform changed how they approached their work, with over a quarter describing the shift as fundamental. In one example, a workflow reduced several days of manual document cataloguing to hours.
The underlying problem Nomic addresses is a familiar one in large engineering consultancies: decades of institutional knowledge locked in designs, specifications and project data spread across disconnected systems, difficult to find or reuse at the speed clients now expect. Nomic’s agents integrate with tools Arcadis teams already use, including Autodesk Forma and Bentley ProjectWise, with further platform integrations in development.

The scope of tasks the agents handle sits at the coordination and review end of engineering work rather than the design end, analysing building codes, design specifications and technical documentation to flag risks and misalignments earlier in the process. Arcadis frames this as compressing days of coordination work into agent processing plus expert review, freeing engineers for higher-value work rather than replacing their judgement.
As part of the deal, Arcadis gains a role in shaping Nomic’s product roadmap, intended to ensure the platform’s development aligns with the consultancy’s client requirements and broader digital strategy.
Heather Polinsky, CEO of Arcadis, said the investment is focused on core project workflows rather than peripheral experimentation. “By working closely with Nomic on its product roadmap, we can accelerate innovation, build solutions around real client needs and strengthen Arcadis’ position as an AI and technology leader in the built and natural environment,” she said.
Nomic CEO Andriy Mulyar said Arcadis has “the scale and technical depth to put AI where it belongs: inside real engineering work, not next to it.”
