National Highways will reveal how geospatial data underpins decisions relating to planning, designing, building, operating and maintaining a network of roads that conveys 98% of England’s traffic.

Mark Enzer, strategic advisor at Mott MacDonald and former Head of the National Digital Twin programme at the Centre for Digital Built Britain, will highlight how critical it is to consider the purpose of the built environment in relation to nature and society’s wellbeing. Topics to be covered include how the challenge of climate change demands systems-based solutions and the ways in which industry is evolving to deliver more sustainable developments.

Argent Related will be talking about improving the efficiency of groundworks surveys and how it communicates site progress at its large-scale construction projects, including £7bn Brent Cross Town. Using Esri’s SiteScan for ArcGIS drone solution, the GIS team has created a consistent framework for managing all flights, processing images, creating high quality geospatially-enabled outputs and sharing them with multiple stakeholders.

Arcadis has embedded GIS at the heart of its business and integrated Rail asset, GIS and BIM data to create a collaborative environment for delivering complex projects. Arcadis will explain how it has developed a suite of real time apps and dashboards and integrated GIS and BIM data to build collaborative working environments.

As part of the Strategic Transport Projects Review for Scotland, Jacobs used GIS to visualise the accessibility and performance of public transport and help the Scottish Government understand where to direct its future investments. This session will show how GIS can be used to share the results of complex modelling with non-technical users, within public administrations, to support decision making.
