Competition is aimed at entrepreneurs and startups that seek to innovate in the construction industry

Cemex Ventures is seeking entrepreneurs and startups for a competition designed to uncover new innovations in the construction industry. Winners of The Construction Startup Competition 2019 will be invited to present their projects in Monterrey, Mexico on July 18, 2019 to an audience of international construction, technology and investment companies. The winners will also be given the opportunity to become part of the investment portfolio of Cemex Ventures.

The competition is split into six different categories: smart cities and buildings; project design & engineering; supply chain management; project & jobsite management; innovative building materials & construction methods; and investment & financing.

“We have a large offering for startups that enter our portfolio, through which we commit to build together a tailor-made path to achieve the best results,” said Gonzalo Galindo, CEO of Cemex Ventures. “Beyond pure investment, we offer smart money to understand the needs of the entrepreneur and take advantage of our resources to enable them to lead the construction revolution.”

From its inception in 2017, more than four startups have been selected from the two previous Cemex Ventures competitions. This includes Ipsum, a collaboration platform for projects, based on lean-BIM technology, and Prysmex, a solution capable of detecting and helping to prevent accidents on site.

Those interested in participating can apply through Cemex Ventures’ website. Registration for the competition closes on April 21, 2019.
