Faro launches Focus i.1 laser scanners

Scanners promise faster colourised scanning, while mobile capture package aims to bring reality capture to a wider audience


Faro Insight has introduced to two new terrestrial laser scanners, the Focus i.1 and Focus i.1 X, plus a new mobile reality capture package, the Rovi i.1, in partnership with Manifold Tech.

The new Focus laser scanners are said to combine enhanced hardware, improved measurement performance with object scanning accuracy up to 0.9 mm, faster colourised scanning, and advanced positioning technologies.

For outdoor and geospatial applications, Focus i.1 X includes a GNSS/RTK mountable receiver and a 400-metre scanning range, helping users geo-reference data.

For cloud-based collaboration, both scanners connect to the Faro Sphere XG digital reality platform. Users are also given access to processing and AI data cleaning capabilities through Faro’s Scene software, which is available through a new subscription model.

Meanwhile, the Rovi i.1 is a new reality capture solution is designed to bring digital reality to a wider audience through an accessible package of both capture device and software subscription.

The workflow connects data capture with the Rovi i.1 mobile laser scanner, processing in Faro Sphere XG, and project insights using Scene, in what Faro describes as an easy-to-use, affordable solution.

Alongside the scanner launches, Faro has launched Scene 2027, a major update to its desktop processing software, which it claims reduces project point cloud generation time on large projects from hours to minutes. The new release also introduces an AI-based filter designed to remove glass and mirror reflections.
