Work has already started on a connector between Newforma Project Center and BIM One’s BIM Track
Newforma is expanding its BIM capabilities through the acquisition of Quebec-based BIM One, which owns BIM One Consulting and the cloud-based BIM collaboration platform BIM Track.
Newforma has a key focus on Project Information Management (PIM), which is designed to streamline communication, manage files and simplify construction administration for architects, engineers, contractors, and owners.
The acquisition of BIM One will augment these capabilities with technology and knowledge in BIM coordination, collaboration and analytics workflows.
Newforma has already announced that there will be a connector between BIM Track and Newforma Project Center.
BIM One will continue to function as a standalone business with co-founder and CEO Jimmy Plante now reporting directly to Newforma’s CEO Brock Philp.
“This acquisition demonstrates Newforma’s commitment to continually evolve our technology offering as well to expand our reach across the AECO ecosystem,” said Philp.
“We are excited to see what additional value we can create for our growing list of mutual customers through a Connector between BIM Track and Newforma Project Center.”
Jimmy Plante, co-founder and CEO of BIM One added, “We were attracted to Newforma as an acquirer because we share a software-agnostic approach that connects people to technology and fosters better project collaboration.
“Though we’ve focused on different areas of the collaboration problem, we have a shared mission of helping the industry solve interoperability issues.
“Joining forces with Newforma is sure to accelerate our growth as we continue to fulfil our missions as world-class technological leaders in the AECO industry,” concluded Plante.
Last year Enscape formed a partnership with BIM Track to brings new issue management capabilities into its real-time rendering and VR tool. You can learn more about the capabilities in this AEC Magazine interview with Enscape CEO Christian Lang.
