Company claims software can complete the electrical design of a 500,000 sq ft commercial building in less than a day
Fresh from a $50 million Series A investment led by Andreessen Horowitz, MEP software developer Endra has launched Power Studio, an AI platform for electrical engineering.
The Stockholm-based company has also acquired Swiss mechanical engineering AI start-up Planlabs as it sets out to cover all three MEP disciplines.
Power Studio allows engineers to load a building model, set project requirements and use software agents to carry out design tasks, with review and approval at each stage. Endra claims the software can complete the electrical design of a 500,000 sq ft commercial building in less than a day, compared with around two months using conventional workflows.
Firms can capture design standards—including equipment placement, circuiting, code interpretation and calculation methods—in configurable ‘Playbooks’. These standards guide tasks such as placing equipment, developing routing strategies and updating designs when architectural models change.

The software checks cable sizing, voltage drop and other aspects of a design against physical constraints and building codes. A ‘Type Rooms’ tool allows engineers to design a typical room and repeat the layout across matching spaces in hospitals, hotels and residential developments. Outputs include Revit models, single-line diagrams, shop drawings, panelboard schedules and bills of materials.
“Endra takes care of the repetitive work and gives engineers back the time for judgement and design,” said Niklas Lindgren, CEO and co-founder of Endra. “A firm’s engineering judgement is its product, and Playbooks let a firm hold that as a standard its whole team designs against.”
The purchase of Planlabs brings Endra technology for automatically generating mechanical system designs and checking them against physical constraints. Planlabs’ five-person team, whose members have backgrounds in mathematics and computer science, will join Endra, with its geometry, data and physics engines due to be incorporated into the wider platform. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Planlabs was founded in Switzerland in June 2024 by CEO Rea Sodero and a team of researchers. “With Endra, we have found a team that shares this vision and has the ambition, technology and reach to bring it to engineers around the world,” said Sodero.
Power Studio initially covers electrical engineering, while Endra plans to add plumbing in 2027 and mechanical capabilities following the integration of Planlabs. This would give the company a platform spanning mechanical, electrical and plumbing design.
Endra was founded in 2024 and works with engineering consultancies including AtkinsRéalis, Ramboll, Buro Happold, Hoare Lea and AFRY. Its earlier investors include Notion Capital and Norrsken VC, and the company is expanding from Stockholm into New York, San Francisco and London.
