Firm that manufactures Nvidia Quadro GPUs enters the mobile workstation market
PNY Technologies, the firm that manufactures Nvidia graphics cards among other products, has entered the mobile workstation market with the launch of two machines powered by the latest Nvidia Quadro GPUs.
The PNY PREVAILPRO P3000 and P4000 mobile workstations take their names from the Quadro P3000 (6GB) GDDR5) and P4000 (8GB GDDR5) GPUs.
Apart from the GPUs, both machines are identical and feature a 15.6-inch FHD or 4K display, a slimline 2.18kg (4.8lb) chassis, an Intel Core i7-7700HQ CPU and up to 32GB DDR4 2400MHz SODIMM memory. A primary M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD can be supplemented with a 2.5mm Hard Disk Drive (HDD). Other features include multiple Type-C USB 3.1 ports, as well as USB 3.0, HDMi and MiniDisplayPort.
The PNY PREVAILPRO P4000 stands out because it is a slimline 15.6-inch mobile workstation that supports the Quadro P4000, a powerful GPU that is ‘VR Ready’. Most 15.6-inch mobile workstations only go up to the Quadro P3000, with the Quadro P4000 typically only available in 17-inch mobile workstations.
“From automotive design to scientific visualisation, professionals require the highest possible performance and most flexible features at a competitive price,” Laurent Chapoulaud, Senior Marketing Manager PNY Technologies EMEAI, said. “Their complex graphical applications and numeric simulations far outpace what traditional laptops can provide. That’s why we have created the PNY PREVAILPRO mobile workstations to provide them with incredible processing power, speed and storage capabilities, along with the latest innovations like Virtual Reality.”
