$30,000 of prizes up for grabs in quest to bring Sir John Soane’s Bank of England to life through renderings and animations
Project Soane, an ambitious project to virtually recreate Sir John Soane’s treasured Bank of England, has now entered its rendering competition phase.
Architects, designers and CG artists are being challenged to bring this lost masterpiece to life, using advanced visualisation software.
In addition to simply being part of this exciting project, there’s a rather large incentive of almost $30,000 of prizes, including a fully-loaded HP Z840 Workstation with NVIDIA Quadro M6000 professional graphics.
Project Soane engaged the architectural community last year with close to 500 Revit users contributing to a crowdsourced BIM model of Sir John Soane’s Bank of England, which was destroyed in the 1920s.
Now, with the first phase complete, the resulting models are being made available in Revit, FBX and 3ds Max formats for CG artists and architects to transform into detailed still, animated or real-time renderings.
There are a total of seven prizes up for grabs, including best film, best project rendered by GPU and best historical accuracy.
Check out the project website for full details.
Even if you don’t think you have the necessary skills to compete with seasoned CG artists, the Revit models themselves are really interesting to download and view.
The closing date is June 6, 2016.
