Technology allows ‘virtually any cloud and/or on-site storage system to integrate with the Autodesk platform
Portal Architects says its SkySync technology will enable Autodesk customers to integrate virtually any cloud and/or on-site storage system with multiple Autodesk platforms. The Michigan-based firm is starting things off with a platform connector for Autodesk’s BIM 360 Field. Additional connectors are in the works for Autodesk’s BIM 360 Glue, Vault and Buzzsaw platforms.
SkySync customer, Mortenson Construction is using the technology to help keep its BIM 360 Field project library up-to-date. With content in several network file systems, the company previously took several steps to import files from multiple network drives. “We had no way to sync our content with BIM 360 Field and our data centre in an easy or automated fashion,” said Mortenson initiative manager Neal Katorosz.
By utilising SkySync to upload projects into the BIM 360 Field project library, the company has been able to automate several steps in its existing import process. Mortenson engineers are now able to sync their on-premises network shared drives with BIM 360 Field. According to Portal Architects, this makes it easier to manage each project while eliminating long import times.
Engineers can configure SkySync to sync their projects at scheduled intervals or they can optionally manually initiate synchronisation jobs.
