BimNv allows CAD software developers to build in Navisworks read and (soon) write capabilities into their applications

The Open Design Alliance (ODA) is offering new licensing options for BimNv, an SDK that provides data access and visualisation for Autodesk Navisworks files from ‘any application on any platform’.

Write support for Navisworks files is in progress and will be available Q4 2020. This will include the ability to create a Navisworks file from DWG, DGN, IFC, Autodesk Revit, IFC, mesh data and more.

According to Neil Peterson, ODA President, the new licensing options are expected to lead to expanded usage of the technology, particularly among ODA’s members in Australia, where Navisworks support is mandated by certain government agencies.

A free 60-day trial version of BimNv SDK is available here.

The ODA offers a similar SDK for Autodesk Revit called BimRv. BimNv allows CAD software developers to build in Navisworks read and (soon) write capabilities into their applications
