BIMcollab Twin ‘digital twin’ platform launches

Software follows on from acquisition of Dutch CDE software developer BIMlink BV

BIMcollab, best known for its BIM issue management platform, has launched a ‘digital twin’ solution, BIMcollab Twin.

The new offering largely appears to be a reframing of the Common Data Environment (CDE) technology that BIMcollab bought in August 2023 with the acquisition of Dutch developer BIMlink BV.

BIMcollab Twin is described as an open platform that offers model-based document- and asset-management with workflow automation to store, manage and share any building or civil engineering data for all project phases. It enables users to structure data and documents around BIM for data-driven insights.

The ISO 19650 compliant software has been in use for several years by large building owners in the Netherlands, including the Universities of Eindhoven, Delft and Wageningen, several hospitals, the National Police and others.

BIMcollab is also extending its issue management platform BIMcollab Cloud into a full, online BIM coordination platform: BIMcollab Nexus.

The software is said to drive model-based collaboration by centralising BIM requirements, model coordination, information takeoffs, issue management and progress intelligence in the cloud. It is built on the IFC, BCF and IDS open standards of buildingSMART and includes a newly developed BIM WebViewer.

The new WebViewer is built on streaming technology which, according to the developers, allows it to open and visualize any size of federated model on a webpage in seconds. It is designed to seamlessly integrate with all BIMcollab products and will start to become available in the coming weeks.
