MSI WT72 combines two NVMe PCIe SSDs in RAID 0 for read speeds at over 3,300MB/s
MSI is the latest manufacturer to unveil a mobile workstation based on Intel’s 6th Generation (Skylake) Core-i7 and Xeon processors.
The 17.3-inch MSI WT72 mobile workstation features a choice of three processors: the Intel Xeon E3-1505M (2.8GHz up to 3.70GHz Turbo), the Intel Core i7-6920HQ (2.9GHz up to 3.80GHz Turbo) and the Intel Core i7-6700HQ (2.6GHz up to 3.50GHz Turbo).
Four DDR4-2133 SO-DIMM slots means a configurable maximum of 64GB of memory, while a choice of four Nvidia Quadro GPUs – from the M2000M to the M5000M – cater to a broad range of 3D users.
The machine features MSI’s Super RAID 4 technology, which combines two NVMe PCI-E Gen.3×4 SSDs in RAID 0 setup to deliver read speeds at over 3,300MB/s. For mass storage there is also room for one 2.5-inch 1TB hard disk drive (HDD).
The machine features a 17.3” Full HD (1920 x 1080) panel, quick notebook charging and a USB-C port to transfer files up to 40Gbps transfer speed and to power dual 4K displays.
To keep the machine running cool, MSI’s ‘CoolerBoost 3’ technology employs two dedicated fans: one for the GPU and one for the CPU.
The MSI WT72 Series is being certified by Autodesk, Solidworks, PTC and other independent software vendors (ISVs). It is 428 x 294 x 40~48mm in size and weighs 3.7kg (incl. Battery).
