Measurements, PDF publishing and anti-aliasing and more added to free BIM model viewer
Open Design Alliance (ODA), the CAD and BIM interoperability solution provider, has released Open IFC Viewer version 22.3, the latest release of its free viewer for the open standard IFC format developed by buildingSmart International.
Headline features of Open IFC Viewer version 22.3 includes the ability to publish IFC models as interactive 3D PDFs and to measure distance, including the ability to snap to the nearest vertex. The free software also includes improved visual fidelity with anti-aliasing to smooth the jagged edges of diagonal lines and ground shadows to provide greater scene realism.
Finally, there’s an interactive view cube to simplify 3D navigation and the ability to take model snapshots, saved to a number of common bitmap formats.
“Open IFC Viewer is a great example of the type of sophisticated application you can easily build with ODA Software. ODA members can integrate our advanced technologies into their own applications, or can simply rebrand the viewer for their own needs.”
“Our new measurement support and 3D PDF publishing make Open IFC Viewer more attractive for professional users,” said Neil Peterson, ODA President. “We’re also pleased to offer features such as anti-aliasing and ground shadows, which are inherited from our Visualize SDK.
Open IFC Viewer is developed using ODA IFC SDK and ODA Visualize SDK. The SDKs along with full source code for the viewer are available to ODA members at opendesign.com.
Depsite the release number, ODA only released the first version of its viewer last year.
