The Wild says move will expand opportunities for team collaboration in VR/AR

AEC VR/AR collaboration platform  The Wild has acquired AEC VR design review and coordination software Prospect by IrisVR.

According to Gabe Paez, founder & CEO of The Wild, by joining forces “the intention is to dramatically expand what is possible in The Wild” and to create “the most powerful collaborative experience for design reviews, presentations, prototyping, and remote collaboration for AEC teams and beyond.”

IrisVR was one of the first AEC VR tools for AEC professionals (2014), and one of the first that AEC Magazine reviewed. It started out as solo tool, but later gained collaborative design review capabilities with a major focus on focus on BIM coordination.

The Wild followed in 2017 and was all about VR collaboration for AEC teams from the very beginning. It also expanded access to augmented reality (AR) devices.

The news comes as a bit of a surprise. Both products offer similar functionality but, with so many AEC-focused collaborative VR solutions in existence, some form of market consolidation was inevitable. Others include InSiteVR, VRcollab, Dimension10.

“VR is entering a new chapter with lighter, more accessible hardware and customers that are beginning to deploy enterprise VR at scale,” says Shane Scranton, CEO & co-founder of IrisVR.

“By joining forces with The Wild, our products will continue to help teams catch errors earlier and make decisions faster, while also building towards a future of deeper integrations and broader hardware support within The Wild’s ecosystem.”
