Latest release promises enhanced performance, better visualisation, expanded support for Revit Families and more
Vectorworks 2027, the latest release of the CAD/BIM software for Windows and Mac, includes several new tools to simplify routine tasks, and make it easier to visualise, document, coordinate, and exchange information.
The new release promises ‘faster, more faithful’ visualisation at every stage of design thanks to ‘modernised texture resources’ built on a modern physically-based rendering (PBR) system, alongside a redesigned Edit Texture dialog with live previews, which is said to make it easier to create and refine materials.
Graphics acceleration, powered by direct GPU support through Vulkan (Windows) and Metal (Mac) is also said to improve the responsiveness of everyday navigation of 3D models in different modes by shifting more processing from the CPU to the GPU According to Vectorworks, designers can see performance gains of up to 15x to 35x in workflows like panning and zooming, making it possible to navigate larger 3D models.
Additionally, the AI Visualizer supports Google’s frontier Nano Banana AI models so architects can explore design concepts and generate high-resolution visuals directly within the software.
Vectorworks 2027 also introduces “a more connected approach” to finding, using, and managing design content. The Exchange is a new hub and in-app palette where customers can share, submit, and discover “ready-to-use” resources from the user community and industry partners. Additionally, expanded support for Revit Families and DXF/DWG Dynamic Blocks enables content to come into Vectorworks as dynamic objects.
In Vectorworks Architecture, phasing improvements are designed to help architects better communicate project stages and design changes throughout the documentation process, while enhanced doors and windows workflows are designed to make common architectural elements easier to work with and document.
Georeferencing has also been made “more accessible and accurate”, helping designers align their models with real-world coordinates without requiring GIS expertise.
Designers can also take advantage of the Geolocation Setup Wizard, which aligns surveys, point clouds, GIS layers, and location imagery around a single survey point.
Vectorworks 2027 includes Vectorworks Architect, Landmark, Spotlight, Design Suite, Fundamentals, ConnectCAD, and Braceworks.
